movie props
movie props

I guess a lot of people would like to make their own movies. By that I mean to go beyond editing together movie clips taken while on holiday, to making movies which tell a story. In most cases professional actors are expensive and most friends don’t make good actors. This is why making a 3D animation movie is a satisfying low cost alternative.I remember a holiday movie my father made in the 1950s. It had an animated title filmed, like the rest of the movie on 8mm celluloid film. When I asked him about it, he told me he had put his camera in a clamp pointing at the floor. He then created the first letter of the title using a piece of string and filmed it for a couple of seconds, then he created the second letter and so on. It was several days later, when the film came back from the developing laboratory that he discovered that his desk lamp had not really been adequate to illuminate his work properly. Then along came computers. It took a while before computers got good at graphics, even stationary ones. But of course they did eventually get good, not only at rendering still scenes, but also animations. Unfortunately Hollywood studios being able to afford high powered hardware and software did not make it accessible to the amateur movie maker. The high price of professional 3D animation software led to the concept of Machinima. In Machinima inexpensive computer games are used to record 3D animated movie clips. Some computer games have a camera or record function built into them, and for others which do not, there are additional utilities such as Fraps, which can be used for recording the game action.Popular Machinima games include Quake, Unreal Tournament and SIMS 2. These games come with the ability to design your own sets and characters, either as part of the main game itself or using utilities, which are provided with the game. Admittedly getting exactly the movie clips you want from these games can be challenging. I never did find out how to part characters in Unreal Tournament or Quake from their guns, which meant unless you wanted to make a shoot ‘em up movie, they were not ideal. No doubt obstacles like this could be overcome, but it seemed you could not get very far unless you were prepared to get immersed in scripting language.Of the three games I have mentioned, SIMS 2, is probably the easiest to use for making Machinima, except that the characters, or in our case actors, tend to have minds of their own. So your movie star may wander off part way through filming, or someone else you don’t recognize, might suddenly turn up and disrupt the scene you are shooting. With SIMS 2 you might even find your movie set spontaneously combusting during filming if you forgot to buy fire insurance. Perhaps this is like movie making in real life, but I would prefer not to have to put up with all of these uncertainties. So you may wonder why no one has produced a budget software product, specifically for the purpose of making 3D animations at home. In fact Microsoft did exactly that in the mid 1990s with a product called 3D Movie Maker, which they targeted at the kids market. However the product was designed for early PCs, so it was pretty basic, on most home PCs it was slow, and it was soon discontinued.Recently there has been recognition of this unfulfilled need. Reallusion in particular, has developed a 3D animation movie maker called iClone. This software is pretty much a dream come true for anyone who wants to tell a story using 3D animation. In its basic form it costs about the same as a new top end computer game, while the more advanced and more useful Pro version is still very reasonable.Although you could make a whole movie in iClone, I find it is best to use it to construct a series of 3D animation movie clips and to then edit them together using Microsoft Movie Maker, which comes as part of Windows, or using a more advanced home movie editing suite such as Pinnacle Studio.Other key points to note about iClone are that if you want to get up and running very quickly, there is a good library of actors, scenes and props, which you can purchase to add to the collection, which comes with the program itself. On the other hand if you are short of cash and prefer to build everything yourself and have plenty of time to spare, you can do that too using the tools included in the software. One optional utility, which I recommend purchasing bundled with the iClone, is Reallusion’s 3DXchange. This allows you to import content from other sources, including Google 3D Warehouse, which is a fantastic resource full of free models of buildings and other props, to enhance your 3D animations.I find it amazing to think that with a budget of less than $1,000 I can now purchase a PC and the software required to make 3D animation movies, when twenty years ago I would have needed $ millions for less capable facilities.
movie props

movie props
movie props

Swords have played a major role in many movies that have become hits and that is the reason why there are also replicas of these movie swords. They are popular among both fans of the movies as well as sword enthusiasts who collect replicas or any other kind of sword. The movie swords are very detailed and exact copies of the original props used in the filming of the movie and so they are great for any kind of collection and to put on display. There are many movie swords available and so it is not difficult to find one that you like. There are, for example, replicas of the swords seen in Kill Bill, Lord of the Rings, Conan the Barbarian, Hellboy II, Eragon, Predator, the TV show Heroes and Samurai 3000. Due to the different genre of these movies, it is possible to also use movie swords to enhance any fantasy, ninja or medieval collection. Movie swords have the potential of becoming collector’s items and increasing in value over time, especially if the movie is a hit as was the case with Lord of the Rings, for example. Those that are putting together collections of movie swords should ensure that the manufacturer has the official license to reproduce the products, or it will not be as valuable. The official movie swords should also come with a certificate of authenticity and in the best case be a special or limited edition. Even though the majority of movie swords are for displaying only, there are still some that are also fully functional and can be used to practice with or use for demonstrations and reenactments. Determining which swords can be used and which not is an easy matter. The functional swords will specifically be battle ready or fully functional and have high carbon steel blades, whereas the collectible display swords have stainless steel blades.Another way to make use of replica movie swords is to have them as props for your reenactments or as part of a costume when visiting a convention or gathering relating to the movie in question. They are also great for using in role playing games, but should not be used unless the movie sword is battle ready.
movie props

movie props
movie props

There have been many famous movie swords and these make great collector items. Most swords that are based on ones used in famous movies are replicas and therefore are mainly purchased to be put on display or as part of a collection. That does not mean, however, that all movie swords are non-functional and that you can’t find some that can be used for reenactments. The types of movie swords available are as wide ranging as the movies themselves. There are, for examples, swords based on the ones from Conan the Barbarian, Excalibur, Lord of the Rings and Kill Bill. All of these have different settings and so you can choose between swords that have a medieval look to them, a martial arts sword like a ninja tanto or one that has a fantasy like appearance or which is completely artistically designed and has no functionality at all.Regardless of what era, period, geographical region or purpose, movie swords are all replicas and that means that they have potential collector’s value. Sword collectors or fans of a certain movie should add movie swords to their collections because they are unique and just make things more complete. These swords can be put on display for all to see and they will surely be a hot discussion topic when other fans come and see it.Movie swords can also become collector’s items and that means that in some cases they will be worth more than what you paid for them. For those that want to use such swords as a form of investment, they should pay attention to important details such as the popularity or cult status of the movie with the sword in question, whether or not the piece is a limited or special edition, the licensing of the sword and if it comes with a certificate of authenticity.Actors or role players will also enjoy owning and using movie swords. Many of these may not be battle ready so that they are not useful for combat reenactments, but they do make good props for plays or as a weapon to carry around at a movie convention.
movie props

movie props
movie props

Nowadays it is common to associate guns with weapons in movies. However, there are many movies that also have their main characters using a more traditional weapon like the sword. There are many types of Movie replica swords on the market, for example, fantasy swords, Samurai swords or medieval knight’s swords. Some popular movies that have swords in them are Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, Braveheart, Eragon, 300 and The Golden Compass, just to mention a few.Movie replica swords are for the most part interesting to collectors. Although they can be used for training, the majority are not battle ready. This means that they can not be used for actual fighting in which the sword will have to come into contact with another weapons, such as another sword. Using a sword that is not battle ready in a competition or play battle will probably just end up with it breaking and that would be a shame for such a detailed, replica sword from one of your favorite movies. However, just because movie replica swords are generally not battle ready that does not mean that they are not great for carrying around at a convention about the movie or at a gathering for fans that come dressed up like characters from the movie. Swords that are replicas from movies also make great props if you are interested in acting out a part of it or reenacting scenes. For collectors movie replica swords are not just interesting because they can add to an existing collection, but also because they may actually increase in value. Especially limited editions of movie replica swords may one day be valuable just because there were not many produced to begin with. As a general rule, the rarer the movie replica sword the better it is for the collector looking to make a wise investment.A certificate of authenticity must also come with any movie replica swords that are part of collection, but the licensing should also not be forgotten. The swords should be officially licensed or they will just be another replica. Scabbards are also necessary to complete the set of a movie replica sword and these sometimes will have to be purchased separately.
movie props

movie props
movie props

Collecting autographed photos and toys can be fun for building anyone’s collection. They allow people to start amassing a collection which anyone would be impressed by and can often provide not only a hobby, but a talking point for many people for all of their future guests. One of the more interesting things to collect, however, which would make anyone envious of the celebrity collectibles, are actual props from the films which these actors have appeared in. Owning the different props that one sees in the films can give anyone a sense of wonder when it comes to a memorabilia collection.Props from the movie sets can come from a variety of sources. Often, after a film’s premiere, the studio will auction off many of the props and costumes used in the film for the purpose of charity. This can be a great way to collect these items as you not only help out a worthwhile charity, but you get a piece to make your collection look spectacular. Additionally, many people who worked on the film will often take the pieces with them as a memento. The time may come later where they wish to sell those items and one can find opportunities to buy those items. There are often two different sorts of props that a person could buy as celebrity collectibles. One may go after actual hand props which were used by the actors during filming. This could be the book which a celebrity was reading to the silverware they used in a dinner scene. A vase which they purchased at a store is a fine example, while the garden tools which they used to murder their husband can all be a fine example. These are items which the actor themselves have touched and that were traditionally used in the filming. Generally, the actor themselves either touched the item or it was clearly in frame during the shooting of the movie.Other popular types of props which can be bought are all costume pieces. These are items which the actor or actress wore during filming, from full wardrobe choices to individual accessories. Pieces of jewelry are very popular props which become celebrity collectibles, although people will collect everything from shirts, shoes, and full out dresses. These pieces of clothing can end up being very popular as time goes on, for if the film grows into an iconic presence, this type of memorabilia will prove to be very valuable in the future. One could also purchase replica props as a part of their celebrity collection. While these replica props aren’t the authentic deal which was used during filming, they are often made to a degree that they are indistinguishable from the actual item. Another upside is that they are usually cheaper than the genuine article, meaning one can buy these pieces for their collections without having to spend an amount of money which they might be unprepared for. Props can be a wonderful way to enhance a collection of celebrity collectibles.
movie props

movie props
movie props

Couples Showers are Growing in PopularityMore and more brides and grooms are asking their Best Man and Maid of Honor to give them a Couples Shower. The trend seems to be based on the fact that friends are spread out all of the world and the couples shower gives them a chance to meet and get to know each other before the big day. In fact, my own daughter met her husband at a Couples Shower!Looking for a new idea for a couples shower?Finding a theme for the party is usually the first and the hardest part of the planning. A great idea is to base your theme on a Hollywood movie and/or celebrity. This theme creates a way for your guests to mix so they all meet and get to know each other before the wedding. Stores carrying costumes or memorabilia have life size cutouts of characters like Marilyn Monroe or Batman, plus accessories to match. So use your imagination for your invitations, decorations and, even your food. How about an Indiana Jones party?Invite your guests to dress for the party based on the movie’s characters like Indiana Jones. and give each of them an Official “Indy Hat ” to get them in the spirit. If you are adventurous, you can dress up as “Indy” himself. You can find an Indiana Jones Costume and party goods at many online stores.InviteUse one of the great online printing stores to create an inexpensive, personalized invitation or make one yourself. Couples Showers are usually on a weekend evening and can be for Cocktails Only or for Dinner. Sunday Brunch is another option that is becoming popular because it eliminates the costly expensive of alcohol and is filled with wonderful foods.DecorateBring famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones as your guest uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls. You can create your own Kingdom of The Crystal Skull by decorating your party room with Indiana Jones paper and party goods and be sure to use some Indy’s favorite party favors, like satchels, knifes and whips, as props and table decor. The decorating options are endless, including life size cutouts of the two heroes, Indiana Jones and Mutt Williams.Try a Treasure Hunt:Your guest will search for the treasure in a Treasure Hunt filled with fun clues that include information about the bride and groom. Divide your guests in teams (making sure to mix the teams with people who do not know each other) and Send each team on a search for the clues you have pre-planted at your location or make it a Road Rally with locations based on the movie. For example, try to find a restaurant called “The Indiana” or a bar call “The Canteen”. Send your guests to a “desert” or “The Boulder”. Most business owners will be glad to join in the party, or you can base the clue on the business name. The last clue should bring your guests back to your location where you have “buried” or “hidden” the treasure which, of course, is not a Crystal Skull, but is your gift to the Bride and Groom! Since the plot takes place in the Russian jungle, be sure to provide plenty of drinks for the tired treasure hunters after their harried adventure! (If this is a Road Rally, remember to serve drinks only AFTER the guests return. Try Any Movie Theme There are hundreds of other films on which to base a party theme. You might want to find out what the bride’s and groom’s favorites are and plan a party around their favorite movie.Don’t be afraid to let go and have some fun…the bride and groom are going through an exciting but stressful time, so they’ll probably ready to just relax and have a good time.
movie props

movie props
movie props

“Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” is the story (based off the hit Broadway musical) of Benjamin Barker’s plot for revenge against those who had ruined his life. Benjamin Barker (Johnny Depp) was once a happy, simple barber, who was married and had a child. When Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman) gains interest in Barker’s wife, he trumps up a charge to have Barker deported, rapes his wife, and takes their daughter in as his own ward.Years later, Barker returns to London in search of revenge. The years have changed his appearance and he now calls himself Sweeney Todd. When he arrives in London, he goes to see Mrs. Lovett, a long time friend. Mrs. Lovett sets him up with a work-space above her own shop and together they plot to bring Barker’s daughter Johanna back to him and take revenge on Judge Turpin. He shows off to a crowd of onlookers and attracts the attention of the town Beadle who is intrigued by his shaving skills.Problems arise when an old apprentice of Todd’s recognizes him for who he truly is, the Judge finds out that Todd is harboring the sailor who wants Johanna for himself, and the neighbors begin complaining about the smell coming from Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney Todd’s stores. Sweeney Todd must find a way to work through these interruptions and accomplish his goal.Although “Sweeney Todd” starts out rather slow, and if you are not listening closely to the lyrics of the first few songs, you may get a little lose, the movie picks up quickly and makes for a tremendous viewing experience. It is really never clear exactly why Todd returned to London, whether it was to get Johanna back or to get revenge on Judge Turpin, but it is this play with what is most important that keeps the viewer wanting to see how the movie will play out. Although when Todd first returns to London he expresses his desire to let Johanna free, when Judge Turpin gets away the first time, Todd can think of nothing but gaining another meeting with Turpin, not what might happen to Johanna in the meantime. This fine line in motives gets twisted as the movie progresses, and there are moments where the viewer begins to question Todd’s own sanity. When this first happened, I was worried that it would tarnish the inner conflict we were already being presented with. However, I was quite surprised by how this “insanity” comes to play out. The fine line between Johanna and revenge, and sanity and insanity lead the way to the actions taken in the end of the movie, and justifies the conclusion to the movie.Another place where “Sweeney Todd” hits its mark is with the imagery from the props in the scenes. For example, Todd’s new “barber shop” is an empty room with a broken mirror that he keeps starring into and a run-down barbers chair. These two items and the fact that Todd keeps starring into the mirror helps to portray just how unsure Todd is about his own identity. He is no longer Benjamin Barker, but he’s not sure if he can be Sweeney Todd either.Overall, “Sweeney Todd” is a fantastic movie adaptation to a Broadway play. As the viewer, you feel for Todd at times, and at other times wonder if he’s really doing the right thing. A great plot twist near the crux of the movie leaves the viewer shocked. The songs are perfectly crafted, filling in portions of the story that the viewer is unaware of at the time (for example, Todd’s past is told through song in the beginning of the movie). One final note, if you are a fan of the “Harry Potter” movies, three of the characters in “Sweeney Todd” are played by the same actors as in “Harry Potter”. Alan Rickman (Judge Turpin & Severus Snape), Timothy Spall (Beadle & Peter Pettigrew), and Helena Bonham Carter (Mrs. Lovett & Bellatrix Lestrange). It is great to see these actors working together outside of the “Harry Potter” series, and they truly excel in their roles in “Sweeney Todd”.Grade: A-
movie props

movie props
movie props

If you dream of a career in movie making but are not quite sure how to begin, here are a few tips to help you along the way. These tips have been assimilated from books, online resources and even a few personal experiences.1. Any story rests on its narrative. It is therefore of utmost importance to posses a good script. Moreover, the storyteller needs to be passionate about his story-telling. A half-hearted approach would dilute the effect of a good script. A low budget movie would thrive on blowing up buildings or having long chase sequences to divert the audiences’ attention from the story or lack of it. It is therefore advised to venture into the art of movie making once in command of a good script.2. It is advised not to buy equipment but to use whatever you have, even if it is your $300 handycam! As a matter of fact even the cheapest consumer MiniDV camcorder can make your movie look neat, when you use a tripod under proper lights. Contrary to the belief, it is not the camera, be it a sparkling new HDV cam or even a Final Cut Pro, but the technique used that makes for good cinema. It is therefore camera angles, light, music and household props that add that creativity to your masterpiece. Innovate!3. It is also suggested to plan the plan, and then to allow that plan to materialize into a good final product. A shot list needs to be prepared and executed with finesse. The locations, actors, sets, props and type and nature of the shots need to be documented for future reference. Planning and organizing will enable you to shoot your day. Multiple shots at the same location can be shot on the same day. This saves time and money. So plan your day before beginning the actual shooting.4. Never be satisfied. Keep your creative responses open. Make sure you are not short on coverage. If you have fulfilled POINT 3 (PLANNING) to the fullest, this should not be much of a problem. Make sure you are not short of shots. You don’t lose anything by making that extra effort.5. Give respect to gain respect! Actors are fascinating and talented individuals. It is advised to treat them with a little patience and respect. You are after all a director, not a dictator! Being a hard taskmaster is one thing, but to treat condescendingly is juvenile. Be open to feedback. However the final decision rests with you alone. Your crew therefore is an extremely important ingredient in movie making.6. Don’t stop! Keep up the good work! You will learn along the way. Learn from criticism and mature from mistakes, but don’t ever stop making movies!! It’s worth it!These tips will not guarantee you an immediate box office hit, but it can assure you of creative satisfaction. After all much of movie-making depends on the creative sensibilities!
movie props

movie props
movie props

So you want to make a civil war movie. All you need are some basic items, a camera, costumes, a script and some scenery. Taking a few simple ideas into consideration will help when it come to how to make a movie. You already know that you want your movie to be about the civil war so now you just have to write yourself a script to follow. Before you begin writing select your characters and storylines. Once the script is written you will have an idea of the scenery, costumes and amount of actors needed for your movie.Next you will need actors and sets. Family and friends can help not only with the acting part but with the making of sets and costumes as well. Try to use some outdoor scenes to make the production easier. If you use outdoor scenes you will need fewer props and the film will appear more natural; remember there were no cars during the cw. There was nature during this time, keep it simple. You can have a few scenes take place in the woods instead of building a set to look like woods. There are costumes needed when it come to how to make a civil war movie as well. Maybe you know someone that has some old clothes in there attic that only require a few adjustments to make them fit the scenes. See if they won’t allow you to use them. Before you begin filming your movie you want to make sure that all of the equipment needed will be able to fit in the area you are using. If you want to do a battle scene from the civil war don’t do too many of them. People don’t want to be covered in blood made from some gross concoction in every scene. Use a hand held camera for the outside you can get in closer to the action. You can use more than one camera if you like to get different angles of the same thing and edit in the ones you like the best.If you mess up on a scene in your movie then you can re-shoot it immediately while the errors are still fresh in your mind in order to correct them. How to make a civil war movie come together for you doesn’t have to make you worry. You can shoot the scenes you are most comfortable with first and skip around if you like. You will have to edit the movie anyway. Now that you know how to make a civil war movie go get started!
movie props

movie props
movie props

In the beginning there is the most vivid werewolf attack scene in any werewolf movie that I have ever seen. The introduction & narration by Selene (Kate Beckinsale) connects the new Underworld: Evolution movie elegantly with the previous Underworld movie. It provides a strong foundation for whatever goes on in the new movie sequel. New viewers would want to know more about the first movie too. The intricate details of props make it all so believable which is what attracted me to Underworld movies in the first place. Also Victor’s (Bill Nighy) way of talking is humorous in the Underworld: Evolution movie.Markus (Tony Curran) arises from his slumber. How confusing it would feel to wake up after a thousand years & see the amount of information available with the use of computers. Luckily, vampires like Marcus have the ability to absorb insane amounts of information; with his blood, in order to adapt quickly to new technologies. He searches for something in the Underworld: Evolution movie. After thousands of years, Markus is still obsessed about his brother William. “I would no sooner harm you than myself” said Markus to William.Markus is a super strong as a vampire bat. Super strength is echoed throughout the entire Underworld: Evolution movie; vampire vs truck, Micheal (Scott Speedman) pushes a man on top of bar & crushes liquor bottles then carries a full grown military man with one hand, & etc. Masters of blood, Markus can gain information from his victims by drinking their blood. At least we know somebody who is used to & probably can withstand the famous guilt factoring GhostRider stare. Lol.Selene (Kate Beckinsale) is sensitive to daylight. Her guns are irritating especially to Markus as the rapid fire only stalls his advance rather than killing him.In the escape from Markus, she & Micheal find some intimate moments for sexual intercourse. Well, now fans finally have the chance to see her strip off the sexy tight fitting leather body suit. One can watch it a year ago, now or five years from now & the Underworld: Evolution movie would still be good! Micheal & Selene seem like the ultimate vampire & hybrid werewolf team as each of them manage to beat Marcus & William respectively. Plenty of brain-splitting fight scenes. The special effects are just as good & probably better then the first Underworld movie. There seems to be no degradation of movie making quality in Underworld: Evolution movie either, it is not surprising as both movies are directed by the same person, Len Wiseman. Additionally, writing, screenplay & characters are still done by the same team that made the first Underworld movie. I hope Micheal (Scott Speedman) evolves into a more ravishing looking creature in future sequels because a skimpy looking hybrid does not justify the super strength he possesses. Obviously, in the Underworld: Evolution movie, Selene takes center stage as she evolves into a superior vampire.Selena drinks Alexander’s (the first vampire) blood to become “the future”, a more powerful & perhaps the most powerful vampire of all. It is possible that she has a baby in her womb & future sequels may capitalize on it. The blast set off by Marcus was so strong that it moved a corpse on the ship’s deck which is a good extra detail. The Underworld: Evolution movie reveals the story of the making of Victor by Marcus, her past, her family in relation to the first vampire & werewolf. Also, it is the beginning of her future as an evolved vampire species. Selena now is a day walker like Micheal but not a Werewolf hybrid so minus the hairy back!
movie props
